Margaret Johnston, Jacksonville, was searching for the perfect colors for the house she inherited from her aunt. The wall colors hadn’t been changed in years. Margaret, who loves color, was boggled by the choices of blue/violet, rose/pink, and how to choose the defining accent colors for the woodwork. Sample cards were strewn over every surface. Margaret's inability to make color decisions was frustrating her. She wanted to be sure she would love the colors that would renew her home and make it feel like her own. Margaret recently told me, "I am still pleased to be living in the colorful atmosphere I dreamed of! You made terrific color selections for my entire home. You helped me take into consideration each room's function, lighting, and how its colors would flow to the adjoining rooms. Thank you."
Sarah Bryan, Florahome, was smitten by the designs she saw during her travels to the Orient. But her home is rather conventional in its architecture; definitely not modern, minimal, or in any way oriental. Using her collections from the Orient, and accenting them with oriental patterned fabrics for her window & bedding fashions, gave her the living and bedroom interiors that remind her of those Chinese & Japanese styles she so admired. Ms Bryan said, "You undertand what I want but cannot really 'see' and then you make it happen for me. What you designed for me is even better than I thought it could be."
Susan Finley, Hawthorne, loves butterflies, especially the electric blue Morphos. She said she "wanted to walk into her home and feel as free as a butterfly, and to be surrounded by that great blue color." I created a new floor plan using her two electric blue sofas and adding yellow slipper chairs in an arrangement that was designed to encourage conversation. I used both blue & gold silk in a custom “butterfly design” for her windows and at the archways that opened into her Florida room. Wrought iron hardware defined the window treatments and brilliant red accessories now gorgeously accent the room." I love my Florida room! Its faux finish and pretty trompe l'oeil scene - a garden path leading to the sea - together with the redesigned living room are my glorious butterfly garden. I feel so comfortable and at home when I walk in the door!"
